Hugh Jackman's Biceps! Samurai Swords! Train Fights! It's the 1st Full-Length Trailers for "The Wolverine!"

Andrew: Hello readers! Sarah and I are currently working on unleashing a string of new posts - reviews, Six Packs Of..., you name it - but while we're working on those we wanted to post the first full-length trailers for this summer's new X-Men film, The Wolverine, starring Hugh Jackman in the role that shot him to super-stardom.

The Wolverine is a sequel to X-Men: The Last Stand (as we can see by some shots of Famke Janssen's Jean Grey in the international trailer) and is based off the limited "Wolverine" comic series from the 1980's. Check out the trailers after the break and then I'll give some quick thoughts on my and Sarah's behalf!

Okay, so first Sarah wants me to remind us that she actually enjoys X-Men Origins: Wolverine for all its campiness, so take that for what it's worth. Personally I'm incredibly happy that Fox and everyone involved with the series realized how big of a train-wreck Origins was and appear to have not only erased it from their memory (which kinda fits considering how Origins ended) but have improved the look of Logan's claws and the surrounding CGI. So that's nice.

But we gotta be honest, we're not quite sold on how the Japan setting and action looks just yet. This trailer certainly piqued our interest - that bullet-train fight looked wicked - and we've always liked Jackman in this role, but neither of us has read the comic series the film is influenced by so we're both a little anxious to see how it plays out. What did y'all think of this first trailer for The Wolverine? Does it make you excited for July 26th to get here sooner, or are you a little hesitant?

The Wolverine comes out in limited release on July 24th and then comes out wide in the USA on July 26th. It's directed by James Mangold (Walk the Line) off of a screenplay written by Christopher McQuarrie (The Usual Suspects), Scott Frank (Minority Report) and Mark Bomback (Live Free or Die Hard).
