Trailers for "Despicable Me 2" and Pixar's "Planes" Has Us Optimistic for 2013's Animated Films!

Andrew: Hello readers! Like we mentioned yesterday, we're back in the game of things and as we promised we're going to be chugging out more posts than the past few weeks have allowed. This includes a new feature we're fine-tuning involving a round-up of each week's movie trailers, but since that's not completely ready we're just going to go ahead and share two new(er) trailers for animated movies that we're looking forward to!

The first one is the animated movie we've been waiting years for, Despicable Me 2, the sequel to 2010's hit about a "super-villain" named Gru, voice by Steve Carell, who adopts a trio of young girls so they can gain him access into a rival's fortress and how they instead eventually melt his heart. Watch the trailer below to get an idea of the shenanigans Gru and the Minions will be getting into this time, as well as a Gru's fatherly side.

Reprising their roles in the sequel along with Carell are all three actresses who voiced Gru's daughters Margo (Miranda Cosgrove), Edith (Dana Gaier) and Agnes (Elsie Fisher), plus Russell Brand is back as Gru's partner, Dr. Nefario. And though Jason Segel will not be back as Vector (sad face!), we WILL be getting the additions of Kristen Wiig (Correction: Wiig voiced Miss Hattie in the original, so she's technically returning too), Steve Coogan and Al Pacino! Should be a fun time and now that we know Despicable Me 2 is coming out on July 3rd, Sarah and I can't wait for the Fourth of July weekend to get here!

Around the Web: "Anchorman 2" casting, a new Star Wars film, a Marvel scoop, and more!

Andrew: Hello readers! So first, let us apologize for being so quiet around here lately. Whether it's the winter blues getting to us, the craziness of our day jobs keeping us from getting to the theatre...

Sarah:  Or because we've lately been preoccupied with me trying to get Andrew caught up on Downton Abbey from the beginning!

A: But we've been slacking on the blog and for that we apologize, and we promise to kick it back into gear as we ramp it up to our LIVE BLOGGING of the 85th Academy Awards on February 24th!

We'll be posting more regularly the rest of the month, with new reviews (we're seeing Warm Bodies tonight), fresh columns, analysis of the upcoming Oscars, and some new stuff like THIS particular post.

This post, the first edition of something we're tentatively calling Around the Web, is going to be a weekly post where we share movie or television news and fun tidbits we've seen around the interwebs, as well as stand-out material from our fellow bloggers. We hope to make this a nice round-up of stuff you may or may not have already seen. So let's kick it off with some big movie news that has hit the net recently!

Movie Weekend Preview

Hello readers! Once again the Mrs is on her own to write the blog, while the Mr is watching some basketball game "claiming" to be working! We'll let that one slide...this time. But, it's time for the movie previews for the weekend! This is probably the first weekend of the year where we actually have some blockbusters!

First, we have John Carter. This big blockbuster from Disney stars, Taylor Kitsch as John Carter along with Lynn Collins, Willem Dafoe, Thomas Haden Church, Mark Strong...yea. It's Disney. There are a lot of Hollywood names in this movie. Disney called; they came a'runnin. Haven't seen the trailer? Been living under a rock for the past 2 months? Well, you're in luck! Here it is!

Yep, it's pretty epic. Andrew and I are going to go see it on Saturday, so get excited for the review!

The next big movie to come out this weekend is Silent House. This is one of those movies that I will send Andrew to go see on his own. This 88 minute, single shot movie looks pretty freaky to me. Silent House stars one of Hollywood's newest "It" girls, Elizabeth Olsen. Yes, the famous Olsen twins' younger sister, and let me tell you, she is fast becoming the actress to go to! Check out the trailer!

Kinda freaky, so we will see how Andrew likes it.

Now, this next one is Friends with Kids. I'm sure not many of you have heard of but it has an AMAZING all-star cast: Adam Scott, Jennifer Westfeldt, Jon Hamm, Kristen Wiig, Maya Rudolph, Chris O'Dowd, Megan Fox and Edward Burns. This quirky little comedy looks super fun and possibly a great way to kill an afternoon with some laughter! Well, here, see for yourself.

Cute, right? Well, let's hope that it does well because Wiig and Rudolph are on FIRE right now! Keep it up, ladies!

Whew, I told you guys there were a lot of movie opening this weekend!

Next we have an Eddie Murphy movie, A Thousand Words. No, it doesn't look very good. And no, we probably won't see it in theatres, but never the less...Eddie Murphy's character, Jake McCall, talks. A lot. When he goes too far with a guru, the guru tells McCall that he only has a thousand words, and when they're gone, he dies. Yeah...

It might be a fun one for the younger crowds. Like I said, we won't be rushing out to see this one.

This last one might not be coming to a theatre near you anytime soon because it's a foreign movie but I thought it looked cute and maybe one to Netflix one day. The Decoy Bride stars some actors that may look familiar to some of you: Kelly Macdonald, Alice Eve and David Tennant.

You guys might recognize the guy interest from Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.

Ok, I think I have sufficiently tired you guys out over this weekend's releases! So here is the list of movies in order of what we're going to see first (or what I will see first):
1. John Carter
2. Friends with Kids
3. Silent House
4. The Decoy Bride
5. A Thousand Words

P.S. Check out the first look at Johnny Depp and Armie Hammer in The Lone Ranger

Enjoy the movies, everyone!
