.) More Video Reviews: We toyed around with doing video reviews last year, with some relative success. We only did two of them, one for the Michael Fassbender drama Shame and for the hit video-on-demand comedy Bachelorette (you can check those out by click on their respective names). We enjoyed recording them and our relatively small fan base seemed to enjoy them, too! Now that we having a growing readership, we want to do more and see how they turn out. So our first New Year's Resolution is to do a minimum of ONE video review per month. Let us know down in the comments if you'd prefer us to do them on new releases in theatres, films that are already on DVD, or both!
.) Regular Feature Columns: This is another thing that we've toyed around with last year, with even more success than the video reviews. We have a couple of features that we do sporadically already - What Would Two Tickets For... Do?, Five Reasons Why..., and A Six Pack Of... - but we'd like to do those a little more regularly than we have been. It's a little tough with our days jobs taking up so much time, but we want to make more of an effort because they're fun for us to do and it looks like y'all like reading them! So our second New Year's Resolution is to write a minimum of ONE column per feature.
.) Create More Features: Speaking of our features and columns, while we do enjoy writing the ones we currently have, we'd also like to do a couple more. Expand our repertoire, you know? Among our current ideas is to take our occasional trailer posts and turning them into more of a commentary/analysis of them as a couple. We don't do that, it's more of when Andrew gets a chance to post one that we do. So our third New Year's Resolution is to create more features. We'll come up with one or two more ideas, but if you have any suggestions, absolutely let us know what you'd like to see!
.) Network with Our Fellow Movie Bloggers More: This kind of fits in with needing to do more regular features, because it really just comes down to not always having the free time to spend checking all of our fellow bloggers' reviews and writing. Don't get the wrong idea - we do read our bloggie friends and their content, but most of the time we don't leave a comment because we're reading their stuff when we have a free second during the day or night. Not anymore. Our fourth New Year's Resolution is to not only read our friends and colleagues' stuff, but leave more comments and network better.
.) Hit 100,000 Page Views By 2014: This is a pretty self-explanatory one. When we started this blog almost a year ago, we had no real aspirations in regards to page views or popularity. We started writing this blog because we love watching movies, we love talking about movies, and our friends/family like to come to us to hear what we think about movies. But then something wonderful happened: we started getting a larger following from not just around the country, but from around the world! We have what we like to call "Dear Readers" in England, Germany, Russia, Australia, Canada and more. All in all, we just crossed the 30,000 unique page views mark at the end of December, and we'd love to challenge ourselves this year. That's why our fifth New Year's Resolution is to 100,000 unique page views by New Year's Eve. Hey, maybe we'll start to be able to advertise on here and make some money while we're having fun, eh?
.) Cut Down Our Theatre Candy Eating: Finally, this one doesn't pertain so much to the blog itself as it does to the method of our review writing. Clearly we hit the movie theatre more than the average couple, which means we probably eat more candy than we probably should. Not always, of course, but in our combined effort to run more, work out more, and eat healthier, we figure it's time to cut down on the candy. So our sixth and final New Year's Resolution is to eat only a maximum of one candy purchase at the movie theatre per month.
So there they are, our resolutions for the year 2013! Did you make any resolutions, too, dear readers? If so let us know down in the comments! And as always, thank you for your continued support!
