The Liebster Award

The Liebster is an award that's passed from blogger to blogger as a recognition of quality work. We received ours from Nick at The Cinematic Katzenjammer. To accept the award however there are rules which must be followed:

1. Each person must post 11 things about themselves
2. Answer the 11 questions the person giving the award has set for you.
3. Create 11 questions for the people you will be giving the award to.
4. Choose 11 people to award and send them a link to your post.
5. Go to their page and tell them.
6. NO TAG BACKS

Since there are two of us in this blog, we will be answering these questions separately. Enjoy!

11 Things About Sarah:
1. I was born in Virginia and still consider myself a Southerner and can't wait to get south of the Mason/Dixie Line again someday.
2. I live in Connecticut now, but have lived in Virginia, Alabama and Michigan before ending up here.
3. I have an adopted little sister from South Korea.
4. I love to travel, anywhere, everywhere. Currently planning a couple of trips for the next couple of years!
5. Met my husband (the other half of this blog) in class, which for going to Central Michigan University is not super common.
6. I love fashion. I actually have a fashion blog that is purely for fun!
7. I'm big into Science Fiction, Fantasy and Romance movies.
8. Although I can sing almost every song that I hear on the radio (top 40, classic rock, country) I almost NEVER know who sings the song. This drives Andrew crazy!
9. I love yoga and practice when I can.
10. Baked goods are my weakness, so I NEVER bake...
11. But I do love to cook! And cooking is always better with a big glass of wine! :)

11 Things About Andrew:
1. I was born and raised in Petoskey, Michigan, which is about a 30 minute drive from the top of the Lower Peninsula.
2. I live in Connecticut with my lovely wife Sarah (you already knew that part) because I work for a large, well-known sports television network (that part you may not have known).
3. I'm an only child.
4. I went to Central Michigan University, where I majored in Broadcasting and Cinematic Arts and minored in Journalism.
5. Along with movies, my other passion is sports and I root for the Detroit Tigers, Detroit Lions, Detroit Pistons, the Michigan Wolverines and New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady.
6. I'm love rock music, particularly classic rock, and my favorite bands are Queen, Muse, Disturbed, Avenged Sevenfold and Daughtry (strange combo, I know).
7. I played the clarinet in all through middle and high school but haven't touched it since.
8. My favorite actor is Johnny Depp.
9. My favorite authors are Stephen King; his son, Joe Hill; James Patterson, and John Feinstein.
10. I was born on April Fool's Day.
11. As I was trying to figure out an 11th fact, Sarah walked out of the living room like Zoidberg from Futurama.

11 Questions from Cinematic Katzenjammer:
  1. What's your own favorite recurring feature you have on your blog? S: It's not recurring quite yet but I loved our first attempt at vlogging. I'm really hopping to get that going more often. A: Similar to Sarah's answer, it's not a recurring feature just yet, but I would like for us to do more What Would Two Tickets For... Do?
  2. What's a guilty pleasure movie you can't help but love but don't want anyone knowing about? S: I don't have a movie that I'm embarrassed about but even though I own all of them, when there is a Harry Potter Weekend on ABC Family I watch it. No matter what. A: I really don't have a movie I'm embarrassed to admit I love, but the closest one to that would probably be Moulin Rouge!
  3. If you could live in any fictional cinematic world, what would it be and why? S: Jane Austen's early 19th Century England. It just seems so romantic, and I love the long dresses! A: A world where there truly is a National BASEketball League run by Joe "Coop" Cooper and Joe "Sir Swish" Reemer.
  4. Who is your all-time favorite movie character? S: A star of movies and television, Sherlock Holmes is probably one of my favorite characters. The attention to details combined with obsessive compulsive disorder is so entertaining to see on the screen. Benedict Cumberbatch is, in my opinion, the best actor to have played the role. A: This is a pretty tough question, but I'd have to say James Bond.
  5. What's one thing you want to change about your blog but have been unable to? S: I would love to figure out the perfect blog header. I have changed it about 4 times since starting this blog but I just can't seem to find the perfect one. A: Well now that we've purchased our current domain name, there's not much else I want to change right now.
  6. What's your favorite curse word? S: It's not really a "bad" word but substituting most bad words with "balls." Not quite sure why but it seems to be the one I'm using lately. A: (Well played, Nick.) I'd have to say the f-word. Dane Cook was right, the force behind the first letter and the last two when saying it is great.
  7. What's the best widget you have on your blog? S: I love our "Most Popular Posts" Section of our blog. It's so interesting to see them change over the months based on what people are looking up. A: I actually am a big fan of our Facebook, Twitter and Email links widget. I think it looks good.
  8. Where is one place you'd love to visit and why? S: The United Kingdom. I truly believe that I was British in another life. A: I'd love to get back to Denver because I love the mountains out there and to see my family who live there.
  9. If you could go back in time, strictly in your own life, what's one thing you'd change? S: I would have quit cheerleading a whole heck of a lot sooner in high school and done more musicals, which were SO much more fun for me! A: If I had to choose, I'd go back to college and do more play-by-play for baseball and football games at CMU so I could have gone that route with my career. But then I wouldn't have the time to do this blog, so it's all good!
  10. Who is your favorite superhero? S: It could be that the movie just came out or that I love his pure strength and brawn, but Batman is up there on the top of superheros list. There's also something sexy about a man in a mask. A: Batman, because he's not an alien, a mutant or anything else that gives him superpowers. He's a brilliant detective and has a ton of cool gadgets because he's rich.
  11. What is the meaning of life? Explain in detail. S: Wow. Really? Ok, well I think the meaning of life is meeting new people, seeing new places and doing some good for someone along the way. I believe that we were put on this earth to do good, not bad. The meaning of life doesn't have to be this long drawn out thing. Short and simple is the way to live life...Easier said than done. A: To enjoy life with those you love and who love you in return. It's that simple. Every day is a gift and they need to be cherished.

  1. Thanks for the award, I really appreciate it. Glad you like the name. It may be fairly long, but I enjoy it. As I mentioned when CineKatz also tagged me, I don't think I'll be passing it along, though I will answer your questions in my blog post sometime tomorrow.
